😅🫶-- the reason it came out several hours late: HOW DO I CHOOSE THE IMAGES??? Thank you so much for your assist on this spooky spooky story, it was a fun walk down memory lane.
A fun easter egg in the photos is the air-cast you’re wearing on your foot. The fact that you, not only, took creative lead on the largest haunted attraction in the Pacific Northwest, but did it with a broken foot, is wild! I feel truly privileged to have been witness to that nearly unbelievable chicanery.
Lisette! I knew you were talented, but this is next level in a weird, fun, spooky, crazy way. I never thought about the fact that someone with alot of creative talent needed to come up with this whole haunted house, night of horrors thing and holy smokes, girl. You got it all in spades!
For me, I'm a giant chicken shit when it comes to anything scary, haunted or horror-y. My parents took me to see Amityville Horror when I was about 9 or 10? Ya, that pretty much did me in and I haven't watched a scary movie since.
I really want to see the new Demi Moore movie, but no can do.
Great post Lisette. Hope you had a fun Halloween. I was out trick or treating with my little grandsons and trying not to eat too many Kit Kat and Aero bars (didn't work). :)
Wanna know my biggest secret? *whispers*— I’m wayyyy too sensitive for scary movies. Or haunted houses I didn’t build!! In fact, every single time we did our first lights-out walk-thru before opening night it was so scary. Like even building the entire thing, knowing every single trick! I always said it was a good sign we had done our job well if we could creep ourselves out. Hahahaha! Love that you got to have some sweet Halloween fun with your grandsons. I’ll be swinging thru the mini candy clearance aisle this weekend 👻
Thank you for sharing this spooky and somewhat-sinister story. I love this as a chapter in your life—you so good at so many things. Also, so many threads in there, if you don't mind a little relational share.
I was kinda obsessed with the Salem witch trials, from when I first did ye olde mock trial (you're looking at the lead magistrate) in fifth grade. Also loved that museum in Salem with all the creepy mechanical dioramas and the captivating blackout opening, set to Prokofiev's "Romeo and Juliet."
That ship experience must have been incredible. It's reminding me of Turntables on the Hudson's most surreal setting—a navy ship they'd pulled up from the ocean floor. You could go anywhere in it. Rusty engine room, barracks, gangplank and deck.
Found out a couple years ago that while you can't visit Lascaux anymore, there's a painstaking recreation you can visit: https://lascaux.fr/en/
I’m also just an enormous fan of incredibly shitty animatronic homespun museums and the like— I usually describe the general Salem vibe as “a few old sears mannequins with bad wigs for beards but call them pirates” 😍
(Also OBVIOUSLY I’m looking at the lead magistrate…or is that the great seidini??)
Six months later…not sure how I missed these comments! I was just searching for an email and saw them, unread. Anyway… we’d run out of time so didn’t make it to the cave recreation, but perhaps another time.
Ha yes, Sears at Salem is right on. Another great one for the creepout factor is Churchill’s childhood home—there’s a series of rooms waxily/animatronically depicting his life in Blenheim.
You have led such a creative and fascinating life! I love this piece as it felt like I could vicariously live through you a bit (I always wanted to create haunted attractions or BE the haunted attraction 🤣) But most of all -- I love that it showcases your many talents!
😂 be the haunted attraction you want to see in the world! Hahahaha 🫶🏼 yessss! thanks so much for this sweet feedback, Jade. Im glad it resonated with you— and I hope you had some spooky spooky fun with your holiday.
Reading this with the photos is next level!!

🤡😅 it is amazing the bones in that foot ever healed. Thanks for keeping the crew supplied with….liquid courage.

I wanna go to the Lascaux recreation SO BAD!!

I think I’d rather re-inhabit the Great Seidini than the Great Corruptini (which also sounds like a trendy bevvy)
